Objectives of the General Union

Through its strategic objectives, the Union seeks to develop the sector and advance its members professionally and socially. The following are the main adopted objectives:

• Protecting the interests and rights of members and defending their interests.
• Improving working conditions and standards in line with the efforts made by workers in their own workplaces.
• Raising the professional competence of members and advancing their technical and cultural level through courses, seminars and workshops.
• Improving service performance and creating opportunities for innovation.
• Paying attention to working women and not assigning them strenuous tasks out of respect for their nature, and establishing a nursery for working women's children.
• Studying all laws related to industrial safety, occupational health and safety, and the environment, and participating in their formulation with the competent authorities as stipulated by the law and its executive regulations.
• Preparing studies and research on this important industrial activity.
• Raising the health and social level of union members and their families.
• Participating with the competent authorities in drafting and developing laws in cooperation with specialized legislators.
• Developing relations with trade union organizations and holding local and international conferences and seminars in Libya.
• Seeking membership in all Arab and continental organizations to develop trade union activity and exchange expertise and technical competencies in coordination with basic unions.
• Working on preparing a newspaper or annual bulletin to highlight the union's activities in this sector.
• Nominating and endorsing workers to assume leadership positions in productive and service institutions.
